City of Atlanta Zoning Ordinance Discussion
On Thursday, August 28, from 6:00 – 7:00 PM the BWHCC hosted a virtual discussion concerning the proposed new zoning ordinance for the City of Atlanta. The City has been engaged in drafting proposed changes to the entire ordinance for several years now and is taking comments from residents and community stakeholders through September 2, 2025, on the proposed changes. As this discussion was specific to the impact to homeowners residing in the Brookwood Hills neighborhood, only BWHCC resident members were invited to attend. Following are the links to the relevant materials and below is some additional information about this effort.
The discussion on August, 28th included discussion on the comments the BWHCC will make to the city which can be found on page 13 of the presentation and two open comments that we have continued to discuss on page 14. If you have any feedback on these areas please forward it to president@brookwoodhills.com or npu@brookwoodhills.com.
It is important to note that any individual in our community is welcome to submit their own comments directly to the City. If you want to review and comment on the proposed zoning ordinance, you may access it via the link at https://atlzoning.com/
If you have comments or questions that you would like to share or ask you may reach out to Renee Valgoi (president@brookwoodhills.com) or our NPU representatives (NPU@brookwoodhills.com).
As some additional background on this initiative, in July of 2025, the Brookwood Hills Community Club retained Linda Dunlavy of Dunlavy Law Group, LLC, to conduct a third party review of the proposed ordinance, and to make recommendations to assist the Brookwood Hills community in making comments to the City on the proposed. The August 28th meeting covered the findings of Dunlavy Law Group, Linda’s recommendations, and addressed additional comments/questions from residents.
